Opinions and experiences of visitors with Camping Naturista El Portús

What could be a wonderful place is ruined by the cats everywhere, the featureless pitches and the shanty like appearance of some of the permanent sites; although some owners have made theirs really attractive.
The restaurant food and staff were excellent and the little shop fine considering we were out of season.
Spent a weeek there end of march 2017 and were disappointed

A lovely setting. A small but sheltered beach with sand and shingle. A huge summer pool and a normal campsite pool open all year. Unusually the shop had fruit and veg. The restaurant was efficient and good value. Loo blocks in good condition and cleaned on a perfectly sensible rota. The pitches are all hard standing with a few trees, but you probably won't get close to the beach. With an ACSI card it is very good value.

Basic site facilities, shop ok, barren but that's southern Spain. Beach nice, nice reception people and after 2 meals in Restaurant food good service excellent. Downside is the cats, dozens of the mangy diseased and ill that are fed by misguided people, they need eradicating for the benefit of wildlife and visitors pets.

It matters not which review site you choose they all point out the fundamental problem with El Portús; that being:- the total lack of effective site management and an absolute disregard for the customer base by the site owners. Negative reviews are being totally ignored, as are the complaints of the site users. The same site faults have been repeatedly reported over several years and obviously disregarded by the management. Those with language skills will note that it is not just the Northern Europeans who are remarking the site shortcomings; therefore, a lack of understanding cannot be blamed for the ongoing management apathy.

Too Many Cats! The place is full of cats, encouraged by permanent residents constantly putting out food and leaving it to rot. Nobody picks ip the cat poo. It is just left there!
Cockroaches!!!!
Great location, superb summer pool, but it's only open for mid summer. Crazy!
Small shop with reasonable stock and helpful shop owner.
Reception staff multilingual and very helpful.
Relaxed attitude to parking and camping places. Usually plenty of room. Pick your own spot. Bar/Restaurant staff friendly and helpful, limited menu but OK. Showers and toilets OK but need updating. Cleaning rota means toilets are often closed first thing in the morning!!! What??
Beach is coarse and gritty. Overpriced, but a friendly, family atmosphere.
In short, a great place, Get Rid of the Cats, Clean it up and improve the showers!
Then it will be worth the money!

Dog dirt everywhere. Cats in abundance!.
Very expensive pitch prices.
Such a lovely spot tho but not worth the price.

I have visited this site many times and do not recognise some of the comments made by others who must have had some bad days.
As a Motorhomer, we have found the site very friendly with everyone greeting you and making you feel welcome. The little shop is limited but certainly carries all or most things you could need. They will also get in things that you specifically request. There are one or two areas for dining according to the time of year. Food is average but enjoyable and at a reasonable price. In the off season if you carry an ACSI card, the camp prices are equal to most Municipal camp charges.
The pool is large and clean in a wonderful setting.
The sea is almost always a little warmer here owing to the warm surrounding rocky mountains.
Two negatives, the beach is mainly stone and I need to wear beach shoes. Maintenance, often ill thought out. Toilets invariably closed at peak times for cleaning and broken components too often bodged together. At peak season, the entertainment can be quite loud around the beach area... well into the night.

Too many cats and dogs, hence too many flies. Spoiling a perfect location.Restaurant and bar, very good. Beach was OK for sunbathing, but water was a bit trecherous under foot. On the other hand the best swimming pool ever.
Overall, looking a little jaded for the price, and time for a make over.

I was there last June 2013 in motor home .
The reception girl was very helpful and tried her best to get me a better deal as I complained about the high price and she did get some confession in the end .
That perhaps was the best part of the place ,pitch are big but apart from that it's badly run nobody cares parking all over the place toilet blocks old water was hot .
No supermarket near the site bad shop on site .
Beach pebbly and small .
Lots of long term residents from all over but a lot of uk ppl
iTS. REALLY BAD VALUE FOR THE MONEY THEY TRY AND CHARGE U

To be avoided !
This really is not a nice place, went there in September and made to feel very unwelcome.
They have long term residents who really think they own the place, management don't care, maintenance is poor.
More expensive than any other site of better quality, very very remote.

A beautiful location but site is too big and too many people. Numerous long term residents with dogs barking day and night. Vehicles driving around and slamming car doors at midnight. Small stone beach. Inadequate shop on site considering the remote location. Internet access very weak and sometimes no signal at all. Welcome and information for new arrivals is poor.

We had a chalet for 2 in this beutiful site. The view was spectacular but the site very quiet in mid June. Easy access to the beach and attractive swimming pool, but this was only open high season.
Adequate small supermarket on site and resteraunt/bar provides attractively presented food from limited menu.
A very large site with some accomadation on steep hillside but spectacular views.

We booked in and paid, drove round and booked straight out. Very nice if you can get a pitch near the beach. We had only booked in for 3 days and were allocated what I can only describe as an aire pitch on gravel! €30 per night!
